Back in August when I looked at my planner for October, I knew the month was going to be hectic. However, like most people, I usually function best when I’m multi-tasking projects. At least that’s what I’m hoping for considering this month’s busy schedule.

First, Marty and I took off near the end of September for a two week vacation to Canada. We flew to Calgary, Alberta, rented a car, and spent time in breathtakingly beautiful Banff national park – the heart and soul of the Canadian Rockies. We went river rafting down the Bow River, walked around on the Columbia Icefields (an honest to goodness glacier with ice, snow, and 50 mph+ straight line winds – so awesome!), saw elk in rut, mountain sheep, eagles, ate far too much poutine and fondue, and saw stunning scenery. Photos will be posted soon.

As soon as we returned home, I had to unpack, repack, and travel to Louisville with speech in tow for my podium presentation on well-being, nature, and mental health at a national convention (yikes!). Thankfully, I was able to get a grip on my stage fright by visualizing the ballroom as a lush green forest where everyone in the audience was lounging in red Adirondack chairs sipping martinis. Marty suggested that pounding back a few tequila shooters would have achieved the same outcome; but later retracted his suggestion when we considered the probability that I would knock over the microphone and podium and fall off the stage. I think I made the right decision.

This week, I’m excited to be attending the Writer’s Digest conference in Cincinnati where I hope to meet other authors, agents, and editors, and learn new writing and editing skills for my upcoming book.

And that takes us to the last few weeks of October which bring Fall decorations, family get togethers, and of course, Halloween.

Crazy busy, but blissfully fun.

As an add-on for the post this week, I thought I would upload a brief video which I took today of my backyard – just as the leaves are starting to change. Each week I will post another video to show the garden’s transition from fall into winter in addition to the usual weekly articles.

Happy Autumn! May you have a safe and wonderful week.
