Day #2

OMG – Make the bad man stop!!!!

I woke up early on day 2 feeling stiffer and in much more pain than the day before. However, like an idiot I thought I would simply grab my walker and walk around the room like I did right after surgery (I obviously forgot to re-read notes #1 and 2 from yesterday). Well, not a chance. I could stand and weight bear on my left leg but taking just a few small steps sent stabbing pain from my hip into my groin and down to my knee. To make things even more interesting, my BP must have dropped because the next thing I remembered was the room going black, being soaked in sweat, a racing pulse, and Marty standing over me as I sat in a chair next to the bed. Needless to say, I felt lousy. However, a few hours later, I was able to take a shower by using a shower chair, then slipped-on fresh clothes. That was the highlight of my day.

Home care nursing stopped by in the early afternoon, gave me a quick look over, and gave me some light exercises for physical therapy. Other than performing the strengthening exercises x 3/day (lots of fun), I was told to rest and stay on top of the pain with the meds I was given at discharge. And that pretty much sums up day 2.
