I think my pumpkins partied too hard last night
It’s that time of year again when the magical beauty of autumn leaves, comfy sweaters, and crisp evening air share the spotlight with another fall favorite: carved pumpkins.

Last week I wrote a tongue-in-cheek post about how Hollywood usually depicts gardeners (most often female, young, beautiful, perfectly coifed, and spotless). This week I wanted to list the best Hollywood blockbuster movies which featured gorgeous gardens.
This week, Marty and I decided to binge watch a few movies which included gorgeous scenes of breathtaking gardens, with of course, flawless actors who frolicked in those gardens without a drop of sweat or speck of dirt on them. While they were fun to watch, we both laughed at how unreal Hollywood usually portrays gardeners (most often, women), and how garden scenes in movies generally come straight out of a Jane Austen novel.
If you are in the habit of reading interior design magazines, you may have seen articles written about dopamine décor and serotonin style. Both these terms have become hot topics for home decorating in 2023 because these styles help to create home environments which enhance “feel good” hormones, such as dopamine and serotonin.
In the news today I read with amusement an article titled Chaos Gardening. Supposedly, chaos gardening is the gardening world’s newest craze and a video about it has taken Tik Tok by storm. Even the 2023 Royal Horticultural Society has jumped on board by including an example of it in the annual Chelsea Flower Show.
This morning when I sat down at the computer to write my next post, I had every intention of writing about feeding (fertilizing) our beloved plants in our gardens. However, I was easily distracted by the playful fluttering of Monarch butterflies...
It's almost mid - July and the early summer perennials are bursting with beautiful colors and intoxicating fragrances. Here are a few photos I took from my garden...Hope they make you smile.
Apparently, thanks to the goofy squirrels and chipmunks who bury their nuts and the birds who drop or spill them onto the ground as they fly away, I am now growing approximately 3 dozen - and counting - peanut bushes.
